Service Club Events

The Service Club sponsors a series of events throughout the year. While these events are primarily focused on children and families within the Village, all are welcome to join in the fun. These events are supported through the residents donations such as raffle tickets, concessions and the contributions of local businesses. The Club works closely with the Village but does not receive Village funding for Service Club events.

Meetings locations are subject to change. Be sure to confirm meeting and event details below.

Easter Egg Hunt – March 30, 2024

Children scramble to gather eggs left by the Easter Bunny in the fields of Sabatino Park. The hunt is divided into several age categories including one for those with special needs. After the eggs are collected, children open the candy filled eggs in anticipation of one of the “golden” tickets that awards the bearer a grand prize. The empty eggs are then returned and a special treat for participation is awarded. Don’t forget to watch for the Easter Bunny, the Bunny makes a special appearance at the event to mingle with the children and is also available for pictures.

Details can be found in The Legend newsletter on the Village’s home page.

Sleepy Hollow 65/50 Anniversary Celebration

Help us celebrate 65 years since the incorporation of the Village of Sleepy Hollow and 50 years since the founding of the Service Club. We are combining these two anniversaries into a single theme, hence the 65/50. The Service Club is sponsoring both a night out at Bleuroot in April  and Commemorative Flagpole Bricks

Celebrate with your neighbors while helping to raise money that will be used for park improvements as the Village installs new playground equipment, coming to Sabatino Park later this year. Events are listed on the calendar above. More information and links to the registration forms can be found on the Service Club's Facebook page

Fourth of July Festival and Fireworks

Consider supporting our community events by visiting our Support Our Community page to purchase raffle tickets, commemorative bricks, etc.

July 1st Fireworks

Fireworks parking opens at 7 PM on July 1 and fireworks start about 9:30 PM. We are asking for a $20 donation to offset the cost of the fireworks. We will be broadcasting updates on from 7-9:30 PM on FM 99.1

July 4th Festivities

Come out early and get in a bit of exercise and try your luck at landing that big one and claim your prize. The day starts at 8 a.m. with a 1-mile “fun run” starting at Sleepy Hollow Elementary School followed by the Bob Zdenek Memorial Fishing Derby at Lake Sharon at 9 a.m.

Refreshments open at 10:30 a.m., followed by the Bill Ritchie Memorial Parade. The parade starts at 11:30 a.m., with the fire departments leading the parade around Sabatino Park, made up of children on bikes, skaters, tractors, and floats. If you wish to be in the parade, meet at the Sleepy Hollow Pool parking lot at 11:00 a.m. No registration is required. See the parade flier for additional lineup instructions. There will be trophies awarded for the best floats and the best tractor.

The Service Club is proud to continue the Car Show, previously sponsored by the BGSA. The car show starts at 10 a.m and runs until 2 p.m. The car show asks for a $5 exhibitor donation which will go directly to the Illinois Special Olympics.

The festival features food, games, live music performances by The Lennys, and other entertainment throughout the afternoon. Sign up early at the ticket booth for a chance to be in the pie eating contest that will take place at 2:30 p.m. with trophies for the 1st and 2nd place contestants. At 3 p.m. the winners (who need not be present) of the raffle will be drawn. Raffle tickets are available right up to the drawing and are a great tax deductible way to support the Service Club. The games close at 3 p.m. while the music and refreshment wind down around 4 p.m.

Setup is on July 3 at 3 p.m. Volunteers are always welcome to help with setup or on the day of the event. See any club member or go to the ticket booth during the festivities.

Family Sponsor parking passes and tickets will be delivered to your house by Friday afternoon (June 30). If you do not receive your tickets or parking pass by June 30, please email us at our contact information at the bottom of this page. For Sponsor parking, please enter off of Thorobred Lane near the fire house.

Holiday in the Hollow

December 2, 2023 at 4 PM CT (virtually) at Sabatino Park
The Sleepy Hollow Service Club invites all of Sleepy Hollow to gather for hot cocoa and holiday cheer. Music will be provided by Sleepy Hollow Elementary School as we illuminate the Sabatino Park Flagpole and the Sleepy Hollow Elementary School Circle-of-Cheer Christmas trees, to signal the start of the holiday season. Santa will take a break from his busy schedule to visit with us and listen to the requests of all those children present. One lucky person will help Santa flip the “Santa Switch” to light all seven trees and the flagpole!

See you on the first Saturday in December at 4 PM! Check out the fun from the previous year’s event in the Service Club photo gallery.
